Our final Sparkling Spotlight post of the week is dedicated to another royal lady who celebrated a birthday this month: Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden.
In September 2021, the Swedish royal family welcomed the President and First Lady of Germany to Stockholm for a state visit. On the first evening of the visit, the Bernadottes hosted a glittering state banquet for the couple at the Royal Palace.
For the banquet, Crown Princess Victoria wore a chic red evening gown with diamond and ruby jewels. Her dress coordinated almost perfectly with the sash of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. She also wore the order’s star, plus the star of the Order of the Seraphim and her father’s Royal Family Order.
Victoria chose floral, romantic jewelry for this banquet. She paired the Connaught Diamond Tiara, an heirloom that belonged to her great-grandmother, Princess Margaret of Connaught, with the gorgeous diamond floral earrings from the family collection. She also wore a classic diamond rivière necklace.
To coordinate with her red gown, Victoria also wore pieces of jewelry set with rubies. She secured her order sash with the Bernadotte Ruby Brooch, another family heirloom. She also wore bracelets on both wrists. The sparkling diamond bracelet on her right wrist features a ruby and diamond cluster adornment. The bracelet, I believe, is the bracelet that accompanied one of Margaret of Connaught’s other wedding presents, the King Edward VII Ruby Tiara.
