Monday was press day for the Royal Horticultural Society’s annual Chelsea Flower Show, and the royals were there en masse to view this year’s beautiful gardens. Here’s a look at the jewels they brought along for the visit.

Rather than selecting the brooch given to her by the Royal Horticultural Society (the Chelsea Iris Brooch), the Queen wore another floral piece: the Flame Lily Brooch.

Royal history buffs will recognize the Flame Lily as the first brooch the Queen wore in public when arriving in Britain after her accession in 1952.

The Duchess of Cambridge was very involved in this year’s flower show, even co-designing a garden designed to encourage families to spend more time in nature. Kate wore her pearl floral button earrings from Cassandra Goad for the press day events.

The Duke of York and Princess Beatrice also attended the press event. Just as she did at this weekend’s wedding, Beatrice wore bracelets on each wrist. This photo shows that the gold bracelet on her left wrist may be a Cartier “Juste un Clou” bracelet.

The Countess of Wessex wore fun statement earrings with her green ensemble.

The Duchess of Gloucester wore silvery pearls, diamond and sapphire earrings, and her deco-style circle brooches for the event.

Princess Alexandra chose pearl and diamond button earrings, a necklace of seed pearls, and a floral brooch for the press day. She was accompanied by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Julia Ogilvy, and their daughter, Flora. (She wore the same lovely earrings that she sported for her cousin’s wedding on Saturday.)

The Kent contingent was rounded out by Prince and Princess Michael. Marie Christine sported shell-like earrings, multicolored pearls, and stacked rings for the occasion.

After the excitement of last weekend’s royal wedding, the British royals attended a calmer annual engagement: the Press Day preview of the Chelsea Flower Show. Unsurprisingly, we had a few floral jewels on display.

One big surprise on the day came from the Queen: she wore Queen Mary’s Pink Sapphire Cluster Brooch rather than the Chelsea Iris Brooch. She’s chosen the latter for five years running; it was a gift to her from the organizers of the show. Here’s a link to our write-up on last year’s show, including the iris brooch.

Princess Anne, however, went floral with her brooch choice: a golden brooch set with blue gems. She paired it with pearl earrings and the same seed pearl necklace that she wore for Saturday’s wedding.

The Countess of Wessex looked absolutely gorgeous in pearl, diamond, and gold jewels for the press preview. I’m especially intrigued by the engraved gold brooch on her right wrist.

This angle shows her long necklace, which features a pear-shaped pearl pendant, in clearer detail.

Princess Beatrice stacked bracelets, including her usual delicate gold bracelets and a large bangle, for her appearance at the show.

The always-elegant Duchess of Gloucester wore her silvery pearls with an intricate diamond pendant, plus pearl drop earrings with gem-set studs.

Princess Michael of Kent wore shell-shaped earrings with her large purple floral brooch. This one has a European counterpart: Queen Maxima of the Netherlands wears a floral brooch with a similar design.
