One more glamorous event from this week’s Belgian state visit to Denmark: the return dinner. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde threw a black-tie dinner for their Danish counterparts at The Black Diamond in Copenhagen this evening — here’s a look at the jewels they wore.

Queen Mathilde wore her lovely diamond fringe earrings for the dinner, along with the ruby and diamond bracelet that belonged to the late Queen Fabiola.

It’s a bit difficult to see Queen Margrethe’s jewels, but I believe she’s wearing pieces from the sapphire suite that belonged to Queen Alexandrine. (Because the sapphire demi-parure lacks a tiara, she often wears it for black-tie events.) She also has a metallic comb in her hair, and you can see her golden family bracelet on her left wrist.

Crown Princess Mary sparkled in her amethyst briolette drop earrings, plus three sparkling bangles. One is the usual Cartier Love Bracelet that she sports on her left wrist.

Later, Mary and Mathilde joined Frederik and Philippe at the Cinematheque for an event focused on Belgian culture.

Time for some state visit glitter, everyone! Tonight’s Belgian state banquet in Denmark was a rare example of a royal/royal state dinner event, and we’ve got some significant tiaras on display. And, as an extra treat: they’re in motion! (Warning: some of these gifs feature flash photography.)

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark wore the family’s magnificent married pearl and diamond parure to greet her guests. (You can read much more about this suite of jewels over here.) She also wears the sash of the Order of Leopold.

Another look at Margrethe’s (and Mary’s) jewels in motion.

Queen Mathilde wore the full version of the tiara earmarked for Belgium’s queens: the Nine Provinces Tiara. She’s also wearing her geometric diamond earrings and a diamond brooch. Both Philippe and Mathilde wear the sash of the Order of the Elephant.

Crown Princess Mary wore her most important set of jewels: the Danish Ruby Parure. She wears the sash of the Order of the Crown, while Crown Prince Frederik wears the Order of Leopold.

And Princess Marie wore her usual sparkler, Princess Dagmar’s Floral Tiara, with her hoop earrings and her small round diamond and pearl brooch. Marie wears the sash of the Order of Leopold II, and Joachim wears the Order of the Crown. One more Danish princess, Princess Elisabeth, also attended the banquet; she wore Princess Thyra’s Sapphire Tiara.
