Today, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrate their seventh wedding anniversary. To mark that occasion here, we’re taking our usual weekend brooch post and amping it up! Here’s a look at a number of the brooches we’ve seen Kate wear since she became an HRH.

The first brooch that the new Duchess of Cambridge wore publicly was the Irish Guards Brooch, a charming golden shamrock set with a single emerald. Kate has worn the brooch numerous times since, usually while handing out shamrocks to the Irish Guards on St. Patrick’s Day.

The Royal Navy Submarine Service Brooch, which depicts the service’s dolphin badge, was one of Kate’s wedding gifts. The Duke of Cambridge is the service’s Commodore-in-Chief. Kate most famously wore the badge during the river pageant celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Another military piece worn by Kate is the Dacre Brooch, worn in her official capacity as Honorary Air Commandant of the Air Cadets. Until 2015, the brooch was presented to the best female Air Cadet of the year; like her male counterpart, the best female cadet now receives the Dacre Sword.

You’ll also often see Kate sporting a sparkling crystal Poppy Brooch, made by Buckley, at various military-related events, especially during the weeks preceding Remembrance Sunday each November.

For the annual Remembrance Sunday observations, Kate has also sometimes worn the ANZAC Anemone Brooch. The enamel brooch was presented to Kate in Australia on the night before ANZAC Day in 2014 by Emma, the wife of Victoria Cross recipient Corporal Ben Roberts-Smith.

Indeed, the Queen has loaned Kate more than one brooch over the past seven years. For the Cambridges’ 2014 visit to New Zealand, she loaned Kate the New Zealand Silver Fern Brooch, presented to the monarch on Christmas Day 1953 during her coronation tour.

The Queen has also loaned the Diamond Maple Leaf Brooch, which originally belonged to the Queen Mother, to Kate for multiple visits to Canada, beginning in 2011.

During the 2011 Canadian tour, Kate was presented with a Polar Bear Brooch, made by Harry Winston. The brooch (and matching cuff links for William) was a gift from the government of the Northwest Territories. We’ve yet to see her wear this one in public.

Perhaps the most-worn of all of Kate’s brooches is the simple Five Pearl Brooch, which is likely made of crystal and resin. Kate’s most recent appearance in the brooch came on Easter Sunday 2018 at Windsor.

Kate wore this silver Celtic Knot Brooch during a visit to Strathearn in 2014. There’s been speculation that this one was a wedding gift, perhaps from William. In Scotland, where the couple met, they are titled Earl and Countess of Strathearn.

My favorite of all of Kate’s brooches is perhaps this lovely Oak Leaf Brooch, which she debuted in 2012 and wore again on Christmas Day 2015. The oak leaf symbolism is tied with her Middleton family heritage, and oak leaf and acorn designs have often featured in her jewelry, including her wedding earrings.
