King’s Day Jewels 2019

On Saturday, King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands celebrated his 52nd birthday in Amersfoort, where the annual Koningsdag festivities were in full swing!

The King was joined by his wife, Queen Maxima, and their daughters, Princess Amalia, Princess Alexia, and Princess Ariane for the day.

Maxima’s major accessory for the day was a pair of pearl drop earrings, though you can also spot the hint of a bracelet (I believe the diamond bracelet made of her family’s initials) peek out from her glove.

All three of the young princesses attended to support their father and greet the people of Amersfoort.

Fifteen-year-old Princess Amalia, who holds the title of Princess of Orange and will one day be Queen of the Netherlands, wore a brightly-printed ensemble to greet those who had gathered.

Princess Alexia, who is thirteen, wore vibrant red for the day. She also added a pair of necklaces…

The youngest member of the family, twelve-year-old Princess Ariane, didn’t add any jewelry to her outfit — which was probably good for her shot!

Several members of the extended royal family also attended the festivities, including Prince Constantijn, Princess Laurentien, and members of the van Vollenhoven branch of the family. Unfortunately, we didn’t get many close-up photos, so we don’t have good views of their jewels.

King’s Day Concert Jewels in the Netherlands

The royal ladies of the House of Orange sparkled on Monday in Amersfoort for the annual King’s Day Concert. Here’s a look at some of the jewels we caught a glimpse of at the event.

Queen Maxima of the Netherlands wore relatively few pieces of jewelry for the concert, but the ones she chose packed a sparkly punch.

The show-stoppers of the outfit were her diamond cluster earrings.

These are, I believe, two of the diamond cluster elements from the top of the Stuart Tiara. The full tiara’s toppers are, from the center radiating outward, the grand pear-shaped Stuart Diamond, and then a pair of large diamond clusters, and then a pair of smaller diamond clusters. (See photos of the tiara here!) I think these are the smaller pair. You’ll note that there’s a small loop at the base of the earrings from which pendants can be attached.

These are the same earrings she wore last week at the Diplomatic Gala with pearl pendants…

…and at the Cape Verde state banquet using the larger clusters as pendants. (Those clusters can also be worn separately as button-style earrings.)

She also wore her golden bracelet with cabochon stones, which is engraved with the names of her family members.

And on her right hand, she wore her cocktail-style ring set with diamonds and a pale pink gemstone (probably either a kunzite or a morganite).

Back to this Monday’s jewels — Princess Beatrix attended the concert in one of her favorite colors, royal purple.

She paired amethyst, diamond, and pearl jewels with her outfit, including an amethyst floral brooch, amethyst drop earrings, and a pearl necklace with an amethyst clasp.
