Mette-Marit Sparkles at the Sports Gala Awards

On Saturday, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway traveled to Hamar to attend the Sports Gala Awards, and Mette-Marit wore sparkling jewels for the occasion.

The star of Mette-Marit’s accessories were a large pair of glittering statement earrings.

The lighting on stage made it difficult to discern many details about the design of the earrings…

…but they appear to be a large cluster of stones in an abstract design. I’m not sure whether these are fine jewelry or costume, though the size and the modern design makes me lean toward the latter.

We also got a nice glimpse of the diamond ring on Mette-Marit’s left hand. This isn’t her engagement ring; the triple diamond cluster ring has been in her jewelry box since at least 2011.

5. Princess Firyal, the former wife of Prince Muhammad bin Talal of Jordan, sparkled in major earrings at the Berggruen Prize Gala at the New York Public Library on Friday; not sure whether the sparkle on her dress is a brooch or an embellishment, but I’m enjoying it either way.

4. In the Wales/Cornwall Christmas card this year, the Duchess of Cornwall wears her diamond floral suite; the photograph was taken at her private 70th birthday dinner, held at Highgrove in July.

3. On Wednesday, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden wore the slim diamond earrings from the Brazilian Parure and one of the family’s diamond bow brooches for the annual meeting of the Swedish Academy in Stockholm.
