1. Just about the only thing that could top a new piece of royal jewelry = tiaras! My top vote goes jointly to the gala jewels worn by Queen Sonja and Princess Astrid of Norway this week during a state visit from Poland. (Crown Princess Mette-Marit sat out the event because of lingering back problems.) Sonja wore the family’s grand emerald parure, while Astrid wore her whimsical ruby aigrette. The fuzzy screencaps above are from this video — I highly recommend watching it, in part so you can see just how very active this particular aigrette really is!
