Beatrice has accepted a proposal from Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in Italy earlier this month. Through the palace press office, the couple released this statement: “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married. We share so many similar interests and values and we know this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness.” The wedding will be held in 2020, but no other details on the date have been released.

We have gotten some excellent details on Beatrice’s gorgeous ring, though! The ring is made of diamonds set in platinum, with a 2.5 carat diamond sourced from Botswana as the center stone. The band of the ring is also pave-set with diamonds. British jeweler Shaun Leane made the ring “in close collaboration” with Edoardo, with an aim at fusing together the couple’s personal styles. (The ring’s vintage-inspired design is quite similar to the one worn by her grandmother, the Queen.)
The ring design process began earlier this summer (around “four months ago,” reports The Telegraph). Royal jewelry lovers may be familiar with Leane’s name. Not only has he collaborated in the past with one of the Duchess of Cambridge’s favorite design houses, Alexander McQueen, the Duchess of Sussex has also been pictured wearing some of his pieces.

Regular readers of the blog will note that Beatrice has frequently been pictured wearing a gold Juste un Clou bracelet from Cartier in recent months. The bracelet was reportedly a present from Edoardo, and it’s no surprise, then, that the bracelet also made a significant appearance in the couple’s engagement photos, which were taken in Italy by Princess Eugenie.
