One of my favorite formal events each May is the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute’s annual gala, which attracts a bevy of celebrities and beautiful people—and royals, too! (Diana, Princess of Wales made a memorable Met Gala appearance in 1996, and Princess Beatrice of York and Queen Rania of Jordan have also graced the gala’s red carpet.) This year’s gala has been postponed until September, but in the meantime, I thought I’d do a little throwback to one of my favorite Met Gala looks of all time: the purple and gold ensemble worn by actress Lucy Liu in 2007.

On this day in 2008, the Queen’s eldest grandson, Peter Phillips, wed Autumn Kelly in a private family ceremony at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor. Sadly, after more than a decade together, Peter and Autumn are currently going their separate ways. But today, let’s take one more opportunity to look at the gorgeous royal jewels she wore on their wedding day.
