For tonight’s state banquet in Lisbon, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands piled on the family emeralds — and the Duchess of Braganza wore a stunning family heirloom!
Willem-Alexander and Maxima were hosted by President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa at the Palacio da Ajuda in Lisbon.
Maxima wore the tiara from the family’s emerald parure. Although it is relatively simple in design, the tiara can also be worn in pearl and all-diamond settings. (Learn more about the tiara over here!)
She added a pair of diamond and emerald earrings from her personal collection. These are also convertible jewels; the pear shaped drops can be worn separately as studs. She previously wore this necklace configuration, which includes the family’s 18th century emerald pendant, during a state visit to China. (See #3 on this list!)
Maxima pinned the brooch from the emerald parure at the waist of her gown, and I believe I spot a bracelet from the suite on her right wrist.
She wore both the sash and collar of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator; Willem-Alexander wore the same sash and collar.

Also attending the banquet: the Duchess of Braganza, who wore the King Luis Diamond Tiara. (We featured this one on the blog earlier this week!) Her choker necklace can also be worn on a tiara frame.
