Queen Silvia and Princess Madeleine of Sweden were in New York this week to attend the World Childhood Foundation’s annual Thank You Gala. Here’s a look at the sparkling jewels they wore for the occasion.

Queen Silvia wore the new necklace from last week’s Representation Dinner in Stockholm for the gala. The double-stranded pearl necklace features a complicated gem-set clasp.

Here’s another view without the shawl. There’s been some discussion about whether this piece is genuine or costume; we don’t know, but the fact that Silvia has worn it for two high-profile gala events in as many weeks suggests to me that it may be set with real gemstones.

Here’s one more angle on the necklace. It’s a bit tough to provide an image that sharply defines the necklace’s central element, in part because of its proximity to the neckline of Sofia’s patterned gown. We do get a good look here at Silvia’s over-sized stud earrings.

And here’s a look at the rings and bracelets that Silvia wore with her outfit. She’s wearing a double-stranded pearl bracelet with a large clasp — perhaps the bracelet that coordinates with her pearl and topaz suite? Under the right sleeve of her gown, you can also catch a glimpse of a gold Cartier Love Bracelet.

Princess Madeleine kept her accessories a bit more minimal, choosing to keep the focus on her dramatic pendant earrings.

Here’s another view of the earrings. Madeleine has an extensive collection of jewelry set with blue gemstones, and I believe these are either blue topaz or aquamarine drops.

And, for fun, here’s a look at the complete ensembles worn by both of the royal ladies. You can see here that Madeleine also wore a couple of bracelets (and maybe a watch?), but those were covered by the long sleeves of her gown.
