Our extended coverage of the 2018 Nobel Prize ceremonies kicks off with a look at the jewels worn this evening by Queen Silvia of Sweden in Stockholm!

In a break from the pattern she’s used over the course of the past decade, Silvia repeated the same tiara she wore for last year’s Nobel ceremony and banquet: Queen Sofia’s Tiara. (You can see how she styled it last year here!)

The grand tiara dates to the nineteenth century, and as its name suggests, it belonged to Queen Sofia of Sweden and Norway. You can see close-up views — and read my interpretation of the tiara’s design — in this post!

With the diamond tiara, Silvia wore more heirloom diamonds on her ears: the Vasa Diamond Earrings. (You can read my article on these magnificent earrings over here!)

Silvia also wore one of my favorite demi-parures from the Swedish royal vaults: the necklace and large brooch from the Bernadotte Emerald Suite. (More on that set of jewelry over here!)

You’ll also spot diamonds on Silvia’s right wrist…

And her usual rings on her left hand.

Silvia also wore the sash and star of the highest Swedish order of chivalry, the Order of the Seraphim, and her husband’s Royal Family Order, which sits in a diamond frame on a blue silk ribbon. Note that the portrait features King Carl XVI Gustaf as he looked around the time of the couple’s wedding in 1976.
