Battle of Britain Anniversary Commemoration
The British royals were out and about on Friday at a service to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
The Queen chose one of her favorite brooches (and mine) for the occasion: the Jardine Star Brooch. Read all about this sparkly bit of bling over here!
The Countess of Wessex also attended the commemoration. She charmed the vets while wearing the pair of pearl cluster earrings that have become a staple in her jewelry wardrobe of late.
One more senior royal lady was present for the anniversary: Princess Alexandra, though so far I’ve only been able to present long-view photos of her. She wore light blue with earrings and a brooch.
The men of the royal family were out in all of their shining medals and military braids, too. Here’s the Duke of Edinburgh with the Queen.
And the Earl of Wessex with Sophie.
The Duke of Cambridge was present, too — here he is with his grandparents.
The Queen’s cousins, the Duke of Kent and Prince Michael of Kent, are on the far right of this picture, standing beside the Duke of York.
And the Duke of Gloucester is standing to the far right of this picture, beside Princess Alexandra.
Jewels in the Royal Box at Wimbledon
It’s July in England, which means that it’s time for Wimbledon! Let’s have a look at the jewels the royal ladies have been sporting courtside, shall we?
The Duchess of Cornwall wore pearls to watch the tennis on July 2, pairing her usual earrings with a single strand of pearls. You can also see the other piece she’s been wearing lately, a small gold necklace with a “C” charm, peeking out from beneath the pearls.
Princess Michael of Kent wore an over-the-top set of jewelry in the Royal Box on July 6. She wore a similar set of jewels recently at Royal Ascot, though these are flatter and have a lower profile.
As usual, the Duchess of Cambridge turned heads when she and William attended Andy Murray’s match on Wednesday. She wore a pair of earrings we’ve seen her don before, the gold-plated Lolita earrings by Mirabelle, as well as her Cartier watch and her usual rings.
Sitting beside William and Kate was the Countess of Wessex. Sophie wore a pair of trendy pearl earrings that are fairly new to her jewelry box, a stud with a larger pearl affixed to the back of the earring. They’re by Heavenly Necklaces.
Princess Michael went for major jewels again on Wednesday, pairing glitzy earrings with an enormous pendant necklace.
Zara Phillips watched the match with her husband, Mike Tindall. She appears to be wearing earrings from her new jewelry collaboration with Australian jewelry designer John Calleija. (Also at the match, but apparently not spotted by Getty’s photographers: Lady Helen Taylor, watching with her father, the Duke of Kent. Prince Albert II of Monaco attended but predictably wore no jewelry of note…)
