In a week with a major royal tour and a state visit, you know we’ve got some sparkle to discuss! This is my list of the top ten pieces of the week — be sure to vote for your favorite in the poll below!

10. Queen Mathilde of the Belgians wore a pair of gold statement earrings on Thursday at a prize ceremony in Brussels.

9. To welcome the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Bhutan on Thursday, Queen Jetsun Pema wore a beautiful beaded necklace and coordinating earrings.

8. Kate’s been surprising us with lots of new jewels during this tour (see here for a look at all of them!), but two pairs have really stood out to me. The first was a pair of Kiki McDonough earrings made of green tourmalines, green amethysts, and diamonds; they were reportedly made to celebrate the birth of Princess Charlotte last May. Kate wore them on Tuesday for a meeting with Prime Minister Modi of India.

7. My other favorite pair of Kate’s earrings during the tour so far have been the lapis and diamond sparklers by Amrapali. Kate wore the earrings for a charity gala in Mumbai on Sunday.

6. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands has been on a visit to Bavaria this week, and on Thursday, she wore glittering diamonds and sapphires for engagements in Nuremberg.
5. On Wednesday afternoon, Maxima pulled out all of the diamond studded stops, wearing a diamond riviere, bracelet, and earrings in Munich.

4. Princess Benedikte of Denmark persevered through the rain during her arrival at the state banquet for the President of Mexico on Wednesday. For the dinner, she wore her floral birthday tiara with pearls.

3. Princess Marie of Denmark didn’t give us any huge jewel surprises for the state banquet: she wore her usual sparkler, Princess Dagmar’s Floral Tiara.

2. Crown Princess Mary of Denmark showed an increasing fondness for her Edwardian Tiara, wearing it yet again at this week’s state banquet; however, she did swap out the coordinating earrings for a different pair.

1. My top vote of the week goes to Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, who pulled out not only the Baden Palmette Tiara but also Queen Alexandrine’s sapphires for the state banquet. Bravo, Your Maj!

A bit of a casual week when it comes to royal jewels — but there’s also a definite trend happening in the earring department. Be sure to vote for your favorite in the poll below!

10. To kick things off, we’re reaching back to an event we didn’t cover last week: the visit of the grand ducal family of Luxembourg to the Vatican. All three of the grand ducal daughters-in-law were in attendance. Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie wore a delicate pair of pendant earrings; Princess Claire donned an intriguing pair of stud earrings, and Princess Tessy selected a classic pair of pearl drop earrings.

9. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa (holding her granddaughter, Princess Amalia) wore a pair of drop earrings with round pearls for the papal visit. Note that she’s wearing white, while her daughters-in-law are wearing black; as the wife of a Catholic monarch, Maria Teresa has the right to exercise the privilege du blanc.

8. King Albert II and Queen Paola of Belgium were also in Vatican City this week. For an outdoor mass in St. Peter’s Square on Easter Sunday, Paola wore a pair of diamond and pearl stud earrings, plus a delicate necklace and bracelets.

7. Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco observed Good Friday at the Palais Princier; Charlene wore a delicate cross necklace and a pair of trendy back-to-front earrings.

6. Also in back-to-front earrings: the Countess of Wessex, who wore a pair on Easter Sunday at Windsor.

5, On the same day, Queen Rania of Jordan wore a pair of marbleized back-to-front earrings (reportedly from Dior) as she welcomed UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon to the Royal Palace in Amman.

4. For an Easter Sunday mass in Palma de Mallorca, Queen Letizia of Spain wore her unusual gold hoop earrings with interior filagree detail.

3. On Wednesday, Letizia chose her diamond sunburst earrings by Yanes for a microfinance event in Madrid.

2. Queen Sofia of Spain loaded up the necklaces and bracelets for Easter mass, including her whimsical Easter egg necklace.

1. It was a wild and windy Easter morning at Windsor, but Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom still glittered in one of her favorite pieces: the Frosted Sunflower Brooch.

This Week in Royal Jewels: February 26-March 3

It was a light week for royal jewelry, but two bright, colorful pieces managed to steal the show. Be sure to vote for your favorites in the poll!

10. Princess Charlene of Monaco wore pearl stud earrings to accompany Prince Albert and Prince Jacques to the Sainte Devote Rugby Tournament on Saturday.

9. Queen Letizia of Spain chose glittering starburst-shaped drop earrings for the Rare Diseases World Day Event in Madrid on Thursday.

8. In Belgium, Queen Mathilde also chose what appears to be a lovely pair of drop earrings to visit a military hospital; unfortunately, her hair obscures their full shape/material in every picture I’ve found. Drat!

7. Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway wore a pendant necklace during a visit to Alna on Tuesday.

6. Queen Elizabeth II received credentials from new ambassadors on Wednesday wearing her usual daytime jewelry uniform: pearl and diamond studs, pearl necklace, and brooch. It’s tough to see this one, but I think it might be the Pearl Trefoil.

5. Queen Mathilde wore a pair of colorful purple and red earrings to visit Turnhout on Friday.

4. The Bernadottes gathered on Thursday for a service of thanksgiving following the birth of Prince Oscar, the newborn son of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. Queen Silvia wore earrings and a brooch, while Princess Sofia, expecting her own baby next month, wore a lovely pair of drop earrings. (Pearls, perhaps?)

3. Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark are on a visit to the Middle East this week. On Thursday in Qatar, Mary wore a lovely pair of pearl earrings.

2. At a Queen’s Trust event in London on Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II wore her diamond and pink sapphire brooch.

1. My top vote of the week goes to Crown Princess Mary, who wore her Annikat earrings while in Qatar, The gorgeous earrings are set with large blue topazes bordered by diamonds and sapphires.
