This Week in Royal Jewels: September 12-17

September means parliaments are opening and royals are back on the job. Be sure to vote for your favorite jewels of the week in the poll below!

10. The Duchess of Cambridge returned to royal duties on Thursday with a controversial new haircut and a familiar pair of earrings: her Annoushka pearl drops.

9. On Friday, the Countess of Wessex attended the annual BGC Charity Day. She wore a pair of earrings from Heavenly Necklaces that clearly allowed for comfortable phone-answering.

8. Crown Princess Victoria selected an interesting pair of heart-shaped earrings for a visit to a museum exhibition on Thursday.

7. Queen Letizia of Spain celebrated her birthday this week with an official trip to the United States. On Tuesday, she wore her Tous pearl drop earrings as she accompanied her husband, King Felipe, on a visit to Mount Vernon.

6. On Thursday, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands wore fun gold earrings and a simple bracelet for a visit to the Moluccan community.

5. Queen Mathilde of the Belgians also shone in gold earrings during a visit to the United Nations in Geneva on Tuesday.

4. At the annual opening of the Riksdag on Tuesday, Queen Silvia wore the two-stranded pearl necklace that belonged to Princess Sibylla with dramatic pearl drop earrings.

3. In the Netherlands, Queen Maxima attended the opening of parliament wearing jeweled tassel earrings and a diamond brooch. (More in my post on Prinsjesdag over here!)

2. Princess Michael of Kent attended the opening of a new Piaget boutique in Milan on Tuesday, and I’m thinking it’s a safe bet that the earrings and necklace she wore are jewels from that firm.

1. Queen Letizia wins my top spot of the week! She chose her gorgeous diamond chandelier earrings by Yanes for a visit to Capitol Hill on Tuesday.

This Week in Royal Jewels: September 4-10

The royals are back in the swing of things, and so are our weekly jewel recaps! Be sure to vote for your favorite jewels of the week below…
10. The Countess of Wessex wore fairly simple jewelry — earrings, a pendant necklace, and a bracelet — at a reception hosted by the Diamond Jubilee Trust in honor of the Queen’s big milestone achievement on Wednesday.

9. Princess Caroline of Monaco dressed casually to watch her daughter, Princess Alexandra of Hanover, skate in an ISU Junior Grand Prix event in Linz on Thursday, but she still managed to acccessorize, including a pair of stud earrings and a bright white watch.

8. Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg wore pearls to an EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg on Friday.

7. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden (who recently announced that she’s expecting a baby!) wore a sparkling earring and necklace set at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg on Thursday, along with a whimsical statement bracelet.

6. At the Spanish Constitutional Court on Wednesday, Queen Letizia paired her ruby cabochon drop earrings with a red blouse and patterned skirt by Felipe Varela. (Reminder: Felipe and Letizia will be in the USA starting on Monday!)

5. Queen Elizabeth II made her annual outing in the Braemar Feather Brooch at the Braemar Gathering in Scotland on Saturday.

4. Princess Anne wore a very appropriate golden horse brooch at Doncaster Racecourse on Wednesday, pairing it with other diamond and gold pieces.

3. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands arrived at a concert on Thursday in an ensemble that was quintessentially Maxima: a red jumpsuit and her long ruby and diamond pendant earrings.

2. On Saturday, Princess Charlene of Monaco debuted yet another new pair of earrings by Graff at the Princess Grace Awards Gala. This time, the pair is from the brand’s Bomb collection; they’re set with diamonds and rubies.

1. My top spot of the week goes to the groundbreaking monarch herself, Queen Elizabeth II. On Wednesday, she offered a nifty tribute to the monarch whose record she broke, Queen Victoria, by wearing one of Victoria’s diamond bow brooches with her usual daytime pearls.

This Fortnight in Royal Jewels: August 14-27

Time yet again for a recap of some of the royal jewels on display over the past few weeks. We’re still in the doldrums of August, but we’ve got a few bejeweled appearances to discuss! Be sure to vote for your favorite jewels in the poll below…

10. Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden wore a delicate necklace, earrings, and bracelets with a silver watch at the Climate Pilgrimage on August 22.

9. Joining Victoria at the Climate Pilgrimage was Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, who wore a gold pendant necklace and colorful bracelets.

8. During the VJ Day anniversary celebrations on August 15, the Countess of Wessex wore her trendy pearl earrings from Heavenly Necklaces, with a large pearl affixed to the back of a smaller stud.

7. Here’s how you know that the back-to-front pearl earrings are definitely on trend: Queen Rania of Jordan wore a marbleized pair at a university conference in France on August 26.

6. Empress Michiko of Japan wore a pair of interesting earrings and a simple pendant necklace to travel to a medical checkup in Tokyo on August 9.

5. Four days earlier, Michiko wore a simpler pair of earrings with a pearl necklace at the Florence Nightingale awards ceremony.

4. Crown Princess Victoria wore a rather “sharp” pair of earrings with a coordinating bracelet at the Radio Sweden anniversary celebrations on August 21.

3. Queen Maxima selected a lovely pair of earrings with a pale pink pendant drop at the opening of Papageno House on August 26.

2. The Duchess of Cornwall wore some of her favorite pieces of jewelry — her pearl and diamond earrings, plus her pearl necklace with the round diamond clasp — at the VJ Day anniversary celebrations on August 15.

1. Queen Elizabeth II chose one of her most important brooches — the Cullinan V — for the VJ Day anniversary celebrations. (You can read more about the Cullinan Diamond here!)
