This Week(ish) in Royal Jewels: July 25-August 13

August in the world of royalty is vacation time, and with our favorite royal jewel-wearers off on holiday, we’ve got a small slate of appearances to chart from the past two-ish weeks. Vote for your favorites in the poll below!

10. The Danish royal family gathered for their annual photo call at Grasten in late July, and Queen Margrethe wore earrings featuring one of her favorite symbols: the daisy. (Margrethe’s nickname is Daisy, based on the French name for the flower, marguerite.) I believe these are by Georg Jensen, a Danish jewelry firm whose daisy pieces are one of their trademarks.

9. Margrethe also wore the earrings, plus a large daisy brooch, in August during a visit to an art exhibition curated by Prince Henrik in France. The exhibition features pieces by Greenlandic artists.

8. At Grasten, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark layered necklaces, including a large statement piece.

7. In Palma de Mallorca in August, Mary was spotted wearing delicate necklaces and bracelets.

6. Mary also donned the same necklaces with a petite pair of earrings at Copenhagen Fashion Week on Friday.

5. As we discussed earlier this month, Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore statement earrings to the religious nuptials of Pierre Casiraghi and Beatrice Borromeo. (Unfortunately, photos of the other guests aren’t available for me to use here.)

4. In late July, Princess Eugenie wore glittering pendant earrings at the Goodwood Festival.

3. The Duchess of Cornwall donned pearl earrings with her diamond and sapphire dragonfly brooches at the Sandringham Flower Show on July 29.

2. On August 5, Queen Sofia of Spain donned golden earrings and layered gold necklaces at an official reception in Palma de Mallorca.

1. Queen Letizia (and King Felipe) also attended the reception in Mallorca; she wore a beautiful pair of modern pendant earrings.

With the craziness of Royal June winding down, we’re back to our normal posting schedule with a weekly roundup of royal jewels! Our posts on the Queen’s state visit to Germany are here and here — now let’s see what some of the other royals have been up to, shall we?

10. On Saturday, the always-glamorous Charlotte Casiraghi wore an interesting pair of geometric hoop earrings at the annual equestrian jumping event in Monte-Carlo.

9. Also at the equestrian festival were Princess Caroline and Princess Alexandra. While Alexandra went with a delicate necklace, Princess Caroline wore a bright, chunky earrings-and-bracelet set. (Also, check out that watch!)

8. On June 30, the Duchess of Cornwall wore an especially meaningful elephant pin at a fundraiser for the Elephant Family, a charity started by her late brother, Mark Shand. You also get a good look here at the small necklace she often wears under her larger necklaces. Not sure what the small pendant is made of, but it’s lovely.

7. For the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show on Wednesday, Camilla went with pearls.

6. The Fete Imperiale in Vienna this weekend drew a royal crowd, including Eilika von Habsburg (the sister-in-law of the head of the Habsburg family), who wore a triple-stranded pearl necklace.

5. Infanta Elena of Spain also attended the Fete Imperiale, wearing aquamarine earrings, a diamond pendant necklace, multiple bracelets, and the insignia of the Order of Charles III.

4. Tatiana of Greece and Denmark selected an intriguing modern pair of earrings for an event at the Natural History Museum in London on Saturday.

3. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands wore an enormous pair of jeweled tassel earrings on Wednesday during her trip to the Philippines.

2. The Spanish royals are on a state visit to Mexico this week. Queen Letizia debuted a new pair of Tous ruby and emerald earrings on Monday in Mexico City.

1. Letizia also gets my top spot this week for the gorgeous diamond pendant earrings she sported during the state banquet in Mexico.

This Week in Royal Jewels: May 22-28

This week’s jewel news is dominated by foreign tours and parliamentary sparkle. Enjoy, and be sure to vote for your favorite pieces in the poll below!
10. In Monaco, Princess Charlene kept her jewelry simple — a delicate necklace and small stud earrings — during Sunday’s Formula One Grand Prix.

10b. (A bonus royal jewel!) Queen Elizabeth II received the Italian president at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, wearing the Cambridge Emerald Brooch with its gorgeous emerald drop.

9. Queen Letizia of Spain embarked on a tour of Central America this week. She wore her Links of London pendant earrings during a visit to a university in Tegucigalpa on Tuesday.

8. Pearls were Letizia’s earring of choice in El Salvador on Wednesday.

7. Letizia went for a bit more glitter in Honduras on Monday evening, wearing diamond earrings and her Cartier diamond cuff bracelet for a dinner at the presidential palace.

6. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands wore dramatic pink pendant earrings (and a crumpled-up “hat”!) to visit a diagnostic center for those with vision and hearing disabilities on Friday.

5. In Stockholm, Queen Silvia of Sweden wore pearls and a golden brooch for Childhood Day on Sunday.

4. This week, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima headed to Canada for a state visit. For their virst day of engagements in Ottawa, Maxima wore diamond and ruby earrings.

3. At a state dinner in Ottawa on Wednesday evening, Maxima wore the tiara and brooch from the family’s Ruby Peacock Parure, as well as ruby and diamond pendant earrings, a ruby and diamond ring, and a diamond bracelet that was previously worn by Queen Juliana.

2. Pomp and circumstance were at a high in Britain this week, as the royals gathered for the state opening of parliament. The Duchess of Cornwall wore the Boucheron tiara from the Greville bequest, plus pearl and diamond earrings, a pearl and diamond choker necklace, and a diamond (and sapphire?) bar brooch.

1. The Queen wins it for me this week with four stunning pieces of jewelry: the George IV Diamond Diadem, the Imperial State Crown, the Coronation Earrings, and the Coronation Necklace.
