10. Kate’s new emerald demi-parure wasn’t the only surprise at the Metropolitan Museum of Art gala — Princess Eugenie, who lives in New York, dropped by the party wearing a pair of gold earrings with her gown.

9. Kate brought a few more surprise pairs of earrings with her to the US. This pair, crocodile earrings by Patrick Mavros, were worn at the Nets/Cavs game on Monday.

8. The other pair of Kate’s new earrings, silver statement pieces worn on Sunday evening for a private fundraising dinner, have not yet been identified.

7. Queen Silvia wore a pearl necklace that belonged to her late mother-in-law, Princess Sibylla, at the “A Heart for Children” gala in Berlin on Saturday.

6. The Duchess of Cornwall wore her pair of dragonfly brooches with diamond and pearl earrings for a visit to the Jubilee Centre on Wednesday.

5. During the Nobel Peace Prize celebrations in Oslo, Queen Sonja of Norway donned the green amber and silver necklace given to her by the Polish president in 2012.

4. Camilla also attended the annual Sun Military Awards on Wednesday, and she brought along a show-stopping jewel: a diamond pendant necklace with an enormous square sapphire, plus coordinating diamond and sapphire earrings.

3. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands wore an elaborate necklace with blue gemstones from her own jewelry collection, debuted around this time last year, at a gala for the 75th birthday of Pieter van Vollenhoven, Princess Margriet’s husband.

2. At the same gala, Princess Margriet wore a lovely necklace — amethysts and topazes, perhaps?

1. We’ve talked about the glamorous jewels worn by the Swedish royal ladies at the Nobels on Wednesday already; on Thursday, they all attended the King’s Dinner, a second gala event for the Nobel winners. Queen Silvia wore the Connaught tiara, but the rest of the ladies — Victoria, Madeleine, and Christina — wore the same tiaras they’d worn the previous evening.

Victoria did add the necklace made from Josephine of Leuchtenberg’s diamond stomacher. And there’s something suspiciously sparkly in Sofia Hellqvist’s hair, too…

Two state visits, a diplomatic reception, and earrings galore — enjoy this week’s royal glitter!
10. Queen Letizia of Spain has officially joined her Dutch and Belgian counterparts in the Big Earring Brigade. She wore this pair of exaggerated yet elegant pendant earrings from Tous during an introductory visit to Germany on Tuesday.

9. Queen Mathilde of the Belgians has added a pair of bright cobalt bobs to her own big earring collection; she wore these with a coordinating dress in Brussels on Monday.

8. In Amsterdam on Tuesday, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands chose an intriguing pair of dark beaded earrings from her own giant earring collection. Seriously, I think we’re firmly in Trend Territory by now.

7. One royal lady you can count on to stick with the classics is the Duchess of Cornwall, who chose one of her familiar pearl choker necklaces to Fortnum and Mason on Thursday. This one has a large all-diamond clasp with a cross pattern. She’s also worn her workhorse diamond and pearl drop earrings.

6. The Spanish royal family was out in force on Thursday at the National Sports Awards. Infanta Elena, eldest sister of King Felipe, wore a large bejeweled star brooch and pearl earrings for the occasion.

5. At the same awards ceremony, Queen Sofia wore gold hoop earrings and a coordinating necklace.

4. And Queen Letizia chose yet another pair of unusual over-sized earrings for the awards ceremony.

3. King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway are on a state visit to Myanmar this week, and Sonja picked a bold necklace for a visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda on Tuesday.

2. For the annual diplomatic reception at Buckingham Palace, Camilla wore the Shand Tiara, a diamond floral sparkler that belongs to her own family, with diamond earrings and one of her pearl choker necklaces with a diamond clasp. She also wore the sash of the Royal Victorian Order.

1. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden have been in France this week, and on Tuesday, they attended a state dinner at the Elysee Palace. The French don’t host elaborate state banquets anymore (with the exception of the black-tie dinner for Queen Elizabeth II earlier this year), so no tiaras were worn. But crafty Silvia managed to wear major, significant jewelry anyway by donning pieces from the family’s Napoleon-era Cameo Parure.

She wore the brooch (which actually may not be original to the set) in her hair, as well as the earrings, necklace, and bracelet. She also wore her husband’s family order.

10. On Thursday, Queen Elizabeth II joined King Philippe of the Belgians at the opening of the new Flanders Field Memorial in London. She wore her diamond and gold sunflower brooch, made in the 1970s by Garrard.

9. On Saturday, Charlotte Casiraghi attended a gala in Los Angeles, where she wore bracelets with her striking gown. Here’s a better look:

And — intriguingly — doesn’t that look like a wedding ring on Charlotte’s left hand???

8. Queen Letizia of Spain continued her love affair with petite pendant earrings at the Francisco Cerecedo Journalism Awards on Wednesday. Anyone else think this pair looks a bit like the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding earrings? (Sans acorns, of course!)

7. Last Wednesday, Queen Silvia of Sweden wore pearls and a silver cuff bracelet to give an award to Malala Yousafzai, one of the winners of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize (and someone that I admire greatly!).

6. Back in the Netherlands after trips to Japan and South Korea, Queen Maxima wore hoops to visit a children’s music organization on Thursday.

5. In Campeche on Wednesday, the Duchess of Cornwall wore pearls and a pair of bracelets — plus, of course, her poppy — during an engagement with the first lady of the state of Monterrey.

4. On Thursday evening, Queen Elizabeth II attended the Recovery Pathway reception at Buckingham Palace with her grandsons, William and Harry; she wore her Cartier diamond and aquamarine clips paired together as a single brooch. Update: Yep, although this one resembles the Cartier clips, it’s actually a diamond and aquamarine brooch/set of clips that belonged to the Queen Mother, worn by HM recently at Ascot.

3. During her recent trip to South Africa, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark wore a stunning pair of gold earrings, made by Jewlscph. They’re made of gold-plated sterling silver, and they retail for 520 euros.

2. From South Africa, Mary traveled to Geneva for an event at the United Nations on Thursday. She wore a large blue leaf-shaped brooch as she spoke during a meeting on the status of women.

1. As per usual, tiaras win the week for me! Hop over to Luxarazzi to see Grand Duchess Maria Teresa in the family’s citrine/topaz parure, and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie wearing one of the family’s amethyst sets, including the tiara worn above in the 1970s by Princess Marie-Astrid. Love the purple jewels on Stephanie with that gown!
