Empress Marie Feodorovna of Russia wears her diamond and pearl wave tiara in a portrait by François Flameng, ca. 1894. The tiara, which was part of a parure that also included a matching necklace and brooch, has often been attributed to Cartier; the entire suite was confiscated by the Soviets after the revolution and has not been seen since the 1920s
