Lot #151: A Seed Pearl and Diamond Tiara, ca. 1915, property of “a lady.” Sold for $49,044.

Lot #270: A Sapphire and Diamond Tiara (and coordinating ear clips), from “an important private collection.” The lot does not appear to have sold.

National Day in Norway

The Norwegian royal family led the country in celebrating National Day on Tuesday. Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, and Prince Sverre Magnus kicked off the celebrations in Asker.

Here’s a look at Mette-Marit’s traditional ensemble. Note the embellished belt, as well as the brooch ornament at the neck.

And here’s Ingrid Alexandra, Norway’s future queen, also in traditional dress.

Later in the day, the family joined King Harald V and Queen Sonja in Oslo for the traditional balcony appearance. The change of venue also led to an outfit change for Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit.

Maxima Celebrates a Diamond-Studded Birthday

Happy birthday to Queen Maxima of the Netherlands! The Dutch queen, who turns 45 today, celebrated by marking the fifth anniversary of the Pension Federation in The Hague.

Maxima wore a pair of earrings that feature an orange pearl stud, a diamond dangle, and a gray pearl drop.

We also got a great look at her bracelets — including her diamond wedding bracelet, the diamond bracelet featuring symbols and her family’s initials, and the gold and cabochon gemstone bracelet engraved with her daughters’ names — as well as her watch and her ring. It’s tough to see her, but the ring is set with a large, faceted orange gemstone; it was a gift from King Willem-Alexander after the birth of their second daughter, Princess Alexia.
