The big annual King’s Day party wrapped up yesterday in the Netherlands, and lots of the Dutch royals were on hand to participate. Here are some of the jewels (and antics) we saw on display!
King’s Day is all about fun, so you know that Queen Maxima’s in her element! She kicked off the long weekend’s festivities on Friday at the King’s Day Games in Leiden, wearing a funky pair of dangling earrings.
She repeated the earrings at a concert on Saturday — but went Full Turban with them!
Saturday’s event also provided us with a glimpse of Max’s bracelets.
For the big party on Monday, Maxima wore a pair of slim bracelets … and earrings that, well, resemble a piece of colorful scrubber sponge.
Here’s the full look — it’s so Max, and I can’t help but love it!
King Willem-Alexander clearly liked the look, too. King’s Day celebrates his birthday — can you believe the ever-youthful king turned 48 yesterday???
The monarch and his consort were having such a great time that they even paused for a selfie with the king’s cousin, Prince Maurits.
(Maurits was very into selfies.)
Wax ‘n Max’s three daughters, Amalia, Alexia, and Ariane, were also at this year’s celebration, donning adorable capes.
The future queen was very impressed by the air force’s flyover. Love the sparkly embellishment on her dress!
The extended family — the king’s brother and sister-in-law, plus three of Princess Margriet’s sons and their wives — all joined in the party. Princess Beatrix, Princess Margriet, and Pieter van Vollenhoven used to be regulars at these events, but they’ve all stepped out of the spotlight since Beatrix’s abdication. Margriet’s fourth son, Prince Floris, was away after the death of his father-in-law.
Here’s Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien, who wore vibrant orange and large hoop earrings.
When Maurits finished the selfie-extravaganza, he joined his wife, Princess Marilene, who wore a lovely pair of aqua-colored earrings.
Also in green earrings: Princess Annette, wife of Prince Bernhard, who matched them to her deep green outfit.
Princess Anita, wife of Prince Pieter-Christiaan, wore simple gold hoop earrings.
All in all, it looks like King’s Day was a rollicking good time, as per usual! Can’t wait until next year!
