Feathers and Gems for Queen Maxima

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima were out and about in Amsterdam on Tuesday, preparing for a very sparkling upcoming event!

The royal couple attended a seminar, “Indonesia and the Netherlands: A Joint Future,” ahead of the upcoming Indonesian state visit. That visit will take place during the second week of March.

Queen Maxima chose earth tones for Tuesday’s seminar, wearing rich shades of red, brown, and orange.

She wore a familiar pair of earrings with briolette drops. These are likely either citrines or smoky topaz, and they’ve been in Maxima’s collection for quite a long time. You can read more about them here!

She also wore her gold bracelet, set with cabochon gemstones and engraved with the names of her husband and children.

The most interesting part of her jewelry, for my money, is the enormous cocktail ring she wore on her right hand.

Here’s a better look. The ring appears to be designed to mimic a floral blossom, perhaps a sunflower, with a cluster of orange gems surrounding a light yellow-green stone.

Here’s one more look at the stunning ring.

And, just for fun, here’s a view of the back of her unusual feathered hat. Only Maxima could pull off something like this!

King Felipe and Queen Letizia celebrated Valentine’s Day with a trip to Almonte in Andalusia.

The visit included a stop at the famous Hermitage of El Rocío. The hermitage is the site of the Virgin of El Rocío, an important Spanish pilgrimage destination.

Letizia wore her bezel-set diamond and Australian pearl drop earrings.

She also wore her oval ring from Karen Hallam on her left hand.

The visit to the area coincided with the 50th anniversary celebration of Doñana National Park.

They changed into more casual clothes for this part of the day’s schedule.

Letizia also changed her earrings, swapping out the pearls and diamonds for sleek gold hoops, which coordinate nicely with her ring.

On Monday, Felipe and Letizia were back in Madrid, where they attended the presentation of the National Research Awards at El Pardo Palace.

Letizia wore her diamond and aquamarine Bulgari hoops for the awards presentation. The earrings can also be worn with an impressive set of aquamarine drops. (See them here!)

She again wore her Karen Hallam ring on her left index finger.

Here’s a closer view of the ring from Monday’s appearance. It’s an affordable piece, made of gold-plated silver.
