Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom was a busy bee on Tuesday, hosting a foreign president for lunch and holding diplomatic audiences at Buckingham Palace — and she wore one of her most modern, colorful brooches for the day.

The Queen welcomed President Frank-Walter Steinmeier of Germany and his partner, Elke Budenbender, for a luncheon at Buckingham Palace in the morning.

The Duke of Cambridge accompanied his grandmother for the lunch. Appropriately, William visited Germany with Kate recently, so he surely had much to discuss with the presidential couple.

The Queen wore the same brooch later for audiences at the palace, including a meeting with the new ambassador from Jordan. (I just thought you’d all love seeing the fabulous outfit that his wife wore to meet the Queen!)
