Yesterday was the first Saturday of September, which means it’s time for the annual Braemar Highland Games! Here’s a look at the royal jewels worn for the Queen’s annual outing at Braemar.

The Queen was accompanied to the games by the Duke of Rothesay (as the Prince of Wales is known in Scotland), the Princess Royal, and Sir Tim Laurence.

Princess Anne chose one of her golden floral brooches for the Games, pairing it with pearl earrings.

This year, the Queen also officially opened the Duke of Rothesay Highland Games Pavilion at Braemar.

The new pavilion features exhibitions about Highland Games and Braemar in particular, which is the most famous Highland Games gathering in the world.
