Queen Letizia of Spain reached for a favorite pair of diamond earrings on Tuesday for the awarding of one of the world’s most prestigious literary prizes.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia were at the university in Alcala de Henares on Tuesday for the annual presentation of the Miguel de Cervantes Prize, a lifetime achievement award that honors the work of a Spanish-language writer.

This year’s recipient of the prize is Ida Vitale, a Uruguayan poet, novelist, essayist, literary critic, and translator. Vitale is the last surviving member of the “Generation of 45” movement in her native country. She currently lives and works in Austin, Texas.
