12. On December 23, Crown Princess Masako of Japan wore her lovely diamond scroll brooch and pearl and diamond earrings for Emperor Akihito’s birthday appearance on the balcony of the imperial palace in Tokyo.

11. Empress Michiko of Japan chose a vertical brooch, a pearl station necklace, and pearl earrings for her husband’s birthday appearance on December 23.

10. Modern pearl drop earrings and a gorgeous floral brooch adorned Crown Princess Masako on January 2 as the imperial family extended New Year’s greetings to the public in Tokyo.

9. Empress Michiko chose pearls and a gorgeous brooch with a bright blue gemstone for the New Year appearance on the palace balcony.

8. For her annual Christmas broadcast, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom chose her diamond and ruby scarab brooch by Andrew Grima. (More over here!)
