On Monday, Letizia accompanied her husband for an act of commemoration at the Royal Palace in Madrid. The ceremony marked the 175th anniversary of the Civil Guards Foundation.

Queen Letizia wasn’t the only member of the family out and about this weekend. Queen Sofia, wearing her usual golden jewelry, attended another ceremony honoring the late Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba in Madrid on Saturday.

Another extended member of the family also made an appearance on Saturday. Queen Letizia’s grandmother, Menchu Alvarez del Valle, received an award from the ICCICA Asociation in Aviles. Menchu is a radio journalist who is considered one of the most popular radio voices in all of the Asturias region. Her son, Jesus Jose, and her granddaughter, Letizia, both followed in her journalistic footsteps.

To receive the award, Menchu wore a lovely pearl brooch, pearl earrings, and a fascinating cocktail-sized ring.
