We’ve got one final royal gala event of the year to enjoy, everybody! Here’s a look at the royal jewels worn on Friday for the annual Grand Ceremony at the Swedish Academy in Stockholm.

The Swedish Academy is the official authority on the Swedish language. They’re best known for the selection of the laureate of the Nobel Prize for Literature. (There’s been more than a little controversy about the academy and that prize in recent years.) King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia led the small royal party at this year’s ceremony, which welcomed four new members (theoretical philosophy professor Åsa Wikforss, writer Ellen Mattson, writer Anne Swärd, and Swedish-language writer Tua Birgitta Forsström).

Silvia chose fantastic heirloom diamonds and pearls for the ceremony, including pearl drop earrings, a diamond riviere, and a diamond and pearl brooch. I’m not sure about the precise provenance of the brooch; the setting of the top pearl is different than the traditional pearl and diamond cluster of the Baden Pearl Drop Brooch.

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel were also on hand to witness this year’s ceremony.

Victoria kept her jewels very minimal for the occasion, wearing diamond drop earrings and a small diamond brooch, used to secure the sash of the Order of the Seraphim.
