On Monday evening, we were treated to a little British royal sparkle, thanks to a reception at Buckingham Palace for African heads of state and government.

The reception, part of the UK-Africa Investment Summit, was hosted by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. They were supported at the event by the Princess Royal and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

William and Kate greeted guests as they arrived for the reception, which was held in the Music Room at Buckingham Palace.

Kate wore red for the event, coordinating her sparkling red Needle and Thread dress with her shoes, bag, and jewelry.

Kate chose a familiar jewelry brand for the evening, wearing statement earrings by Soru Jewellery.

The company confirmed on Instagram that the Duchess wore their new Ruby Earrings, described on their website as “handcrafted from 18kt yellow gold vermeil on sterling silver, genuine semi precious ruby gemstones are set within multi facetted sparkling crystals.”

Kate has owned and worn earrings from Soru Jewellery for several years. Above, she wears baroque pearl and crystal earrings from the brand for a Government House reception in Victoria during the 2016 tour of Canada.

She also wore the same earrings for another Buckingham Palace reception, this time in honor of British Olympic athletes in October 2016.

The Countess of Wessex also wore a familiar piece of jewelry for Monday’s reception: her silver and amber statement necklace. She paired it on this occasion with sparkling drop earrings.

The necklace has been a favorite of Sophie’s recently. In November 2019, she wore the piece with coordinating earrings at Buckingham Palace for a reception to celebrate the work of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

We even got a bit of lovely sparkle on Monday from Princess Anne, who wore gemstone cluster earrings with a necklace featuring multi-colored pearls. The jewels coordinated nicely with her black-and-white jacket for the event.
