Princess Benedikte chose a striking blue and gold gown for her big sister’s birthday dinner. You’ll spot the sash and star of the Order of the Elephant, the badge of the Order of the Dannebrog, and her sister’s family order pinned to the dress.

She accessorized, appropriately, with diamonds and sapphires. Her tiara is the diamond floral tiara she received from her parents on her 18th birthday in 1962. The central part of the tiara is a diamond floral brooch that belonged to her grandmother, Queen Alexandrine; the tiara was constructed so that the brooch is still able to be removed and worn in its original form. And, speaking of brooches, the magnificent diamond and sapphire pendant Benedikte wore for this dinner is also a brooch. It originally belonged to Princess Thyra of Denmark.

Benedikte also wore a classic pair of diamond earrings…

…and a very important diamond bracelet on her right wrist. This is part of a larger convertible bracelet/necklace that was once part of Queen Alexandrine’s Diamond Sautoir Necklace. Benedikte’s younger sister, Queen Anne-Marie, owns the other half of the original sautoir. You’ll also spot a large ring that appears to be set with a blue gemstone on Benedikte’s right hand here.

On her left wrist, Benedikte’s stack of bracelets includes the simple gold bangle bracelet worn by all female descendants of Queen Ingrid.
