On the night before the Swedish royal wedding in June 2010, royals from around the world brought out gala jewels for a government dinner and concert. One of the highlights was this incredible royal necklace, worn by a Belgian princess.
Prince Lorenz and Princess Astrid of Belgium attended the pre-wedding dinner and concert for Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden on June 18, 2010. Lorenz is the son of a Habsburg archduke and an Italian princess. This incredible emerald necklace comes from the collection of his mother, Margherita of Savoy-Aosta.
Princess Astrid wore the glittering Savoy-Aosta Emerald Necklace with a lovely green gown for the gala. The necklace, made in France during the nineteenth century, was originally worn by Margherita’s grandmother, Princess Helene d’Orleans. The piece features both faceted and cabochon emeralds in its design.
Astrid paired the heirloom necklace with a pair of diamond earrings with emerald-cut drops. The earrings, some of Astrid’s favorites, are worn often for a range of occasions.
Astrid’s impressive diamond engagement ring completed the bejeweled look.
