Happy National Day to the people of Belgium! To celebrate, our Sparkling Spotlight today is shining on a particularly glamorous gala appearance by Queen Mathilde.
Mathilde, who was then the Duchess of Brabant, dazzled in October 2012 at the pre-wedding gala for Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg. She wore a gown in a gorgeous shade of bright cobalt blue, with matching shoes and a sparkling silver clutch bag.
With the royal blue gown, Mathilde wore royal jewels set with diamonds and pearls.
Her tiara is the Brabant Laurel Wreath Tiara, a convertible jewel that can also be worn as a necklace. The antique tiara was given to Mathilde as a wedding present in 1999 by a group of Belgian aristocrats. She also wore her wedding earrings, which feature a pearl drop suspended from a diamond-studded bow.
Mathilde also wore a modern diamond fringe necklace with the ensemble. She previously wore this necklace in April 2011 for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s pre-wedding gala in London.
Mathilde also wore diamond bracelets on both wrists. Such a classic and dazzling look!
