Last week, Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway celebrated her birthday, and this week, she marks another milestone: her 20th wedding anniversary! We’re going to celebrate with her all week, devoting our Sparkling Spotlight posts to some fascinating bejeweled appearances from the past decade. Let’s begin with this lovely gala ensemble from 2010.
In July 2010, the royals of the world arrived in Stockholm for the celebrations of the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. On July 18, they attended a black-tie dinner and concert on the night before the wedding. It wasn’t a tiara event, but royal ladies still managed to bring a fair amount of glitter along for the evening.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway wore a tiered pink gown for the dinner. Her wardrobe for the weekend was ruffle-heavy—here’s a look at the gown and jewels she wore the following day for the wedding. This dress featured a beaded, sparkling belt.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s major accessory for the evening was this part of sparkling pendant earrings, featuring diamonds and a faceted red gemstone drop.
Here’s a closer look at the earrings. These are versatile: the drops can be removed and replaced with other gems, including pearl drops. Mette-Marit has also used these red drops with another, shorter pair of earrings.
The crown princess also wore rings on her left hand and a sparkling diamond bracelet on her left wrist.
It was a glamorous appearance for Mette-Marit, with the vintage-inspired hairstyle tying the entire look together.
