Get excited, everyone: it’s a surprise bonus post! What could be more worthy of an extra article on a Tuesday evening than the British royals and James Bond? Here’s a look at all the sparkle from tonight’s premiere of No Time to Die at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The royal contingent at this evening’s film premiere included the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. They arrived and walked the red carpet ahead of the screening. And they weren’t just there to help shine a light on one of Britain’s iconic cultural properties. Appropriately, the premiere also raised money for charities supporting current and former members of the three British intelligence agencies: the Secret Intelligence Service, the Security Service, and GCHQ.
For the event, Camilla wore a sparkling blue chiffon evening gown made by one of her favorite designers, Bruce Oldfield.
She added even more sparkle with diamonds, including a very unexpected jewel: an heirloom brooch! This dazzling diamond sunburst brooch belonged to Princess Marie Louise, a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. (You might remember her from the story of another of her fantastic jewels: the Cartier Indian Tiara.) When Princess Marie Louise died in 1956, she bequeathed the brooch (which also has a removable pendant section, not worn here) to the Queen Mother. The Queen Mum was the most recent person to wear the jewel—until tonight! I love an heirloom jewelry debut, and I especially love a brooch on an evening gown!
Camilla finished off the look with even more diamonds, including her Magic Alhambra earrings from Van Cleef & Arpels, plus a sparkling tennis-style bracelet on her left wrist.
But though Camilla looked great, and wore a fantastic long-hidden jewel, I think most eyes will probably be drawn to the other duchess at this premiere. The Duchess of Cambridge arrived wearing a spectacular gold Jenny Packham gown, with gold sequins and a dramatic cape straight out of the golden era of classic Hollywood.
Kate kept the gold theme going with her earrings. We’ve seen her wear these custom crystal O’nitaa earrings before. She paired them with a sparkling green dress during the royal tour of Pakistan back in 2019.
She also wore rings on both hands: her engagement ring with her wedding and eternity bands on her right hand, and her citrine/topaz cocktail ring on her right. You can get a closer look at the gold-hued ring in this earlier post.
Even James Bond himself was impressed with the Duchess’s golden ensemble for the evening. When she met with actor Daniel Craig during the premiere, he commented, “You look jolly lovely!”
