For a tiny grand duchy, Luxembourg has impressively extensive royal vaults! The family’s jewelry collection includes pieces set with nearly every gemstone, including multiple sapphire jewels. Today, we’ve got a closer look at a sapphire-studded appearance from Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie back in 2018.
Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg joined his parents, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, for a state banquet in honor of the visiting King and Queen of the Netherlands in May 2018. (More on the jewels worn by Maxima and Maria Teresa over here!)
For the dinner, Stephanie wore a flowing ivory gown with wide straps encrusted with crystals and sequins. She also wore the sash and star of the Order of Orange-Nassau.
With the gown, Stephanie wore diamonds and sapphires from the Luxembourgish collection. Her tiara is the Chaumet Choker Tiara, with its distinctive lattice-style base. The tiara, as the name suggests, can also be taken off its frame and worn as a choker necklace. It’s usually worn with a series of round pearl toppers, but Stephanie left them off for this appearance.
She also wore another convertible jewel: the Sapphire Necklace Tiara, in its necklace setting. This diamond and sapphire piece features a series of pear-shaped diamond drops. Stephanie has worn it as both a necklace and a tiara. She completed the look with a pair of diamond and sapphire earrings from the family collection.
