On Thursday, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands brought an explosion of royal color and sparkle along for the opening of an important new art exhibition at the Drents Museum in Assen. Here’s a look at the gorgeous sartorial tribute she paid to one of the world’s most famous artists.
Queen Maxima was on hand for the opening of “Viva la Frida!: Life and Art of Frida Kahlo” at the museum, a landmark exhibition of Kahlo’s work that features never-before-seen personal objects alongside the artist’s paintings.
Maxima paid a delightful tribute to Kahlo with her attire for the exhibition opening. She wore a bold, colorful floral headpiece that echoes the artist’s trademark flower crowns.
She kept the floral theme going throughout her outfit, which featured a floral printed skirt and a bright pink bodice. She completed the look with matching pink gloves and heels. (She’s also still wearing a brace on her fractured right hand.)
Maxima accessorized with a pair of sparkling statement earrings set with purple-pink crystals. She also wore a stack of bracelets on her right wrist, including an evil eye bangle, a gold bangle with diamond tips, her diamond wedding bracelet, and her gold bracelet with the cabochon gemstones. That last one is also engraved with the names of her family members. A wristwatch and her wedding and engagement rings completed the look.
I just can’t get over how fun the entire ensemble is. I love the way that Maxima showcases her exuberant personality, and pays tribute to artistic expression, through her clothes and jewelry!
