Denmark’s royal family gathered in Copenhagen on Tuesday for the annual opening of parliament ceremonies, bringing along some lovely gold-hued brooches for the occasion.
The opening of the Folketing was attended by, from left to right above, Princess Benedikte, Crown Princess Mary, Crown Princess Frederik, and Queen Margrethe II. The legislative body meets at Christiansborg Palace.
Brooches made of gold were the preferred jewelry option for the Danish royal women at the ceremony. Queen Margrethe II wore a gold brooch with a wreath-like design.
It’s tough to see here, thanks to an unfortunately placed railing, but Crown Princess Mary wore a gold brooch with a central amethyst and pearl accents for the occasion. (You can see a better image of the brooch here.)
And Princess Benedikte wore an entire suite of gold jewelry, including earrings, a necklace, and a star brooch. The brooch, which features delicate filigree work, is set with light green gemstones—perhaps peridot?
