Two royal duchesses and a royal countess sparkled in London last week for a military dinner, and we’ve got all the details on the gorgeous jewels they wore for the occasion!
The Duchess of Cornwall arrived at the Guildhall in London for the biennial Rifles Awards Dinner on Wednesday evening. Camilla, who wore an elegant black gown for the event, is the Colonel-in-Chief of The Rifles, which is an infantry regiment of the British Army. She took over the role from the late Duke of Edinburgh last year. She’s also the Royal Colonel of the 4th Battalion, an honorary appointment that she’s held since 2007.
Camilla delivered remarks at the awards dinner, which offered us especially good views of her jewels for the occasion. She wore her modern demi-parure of emerald and diamond jewels, which many believe was a gift from the Saudi royals. You’ll also spot her new blue and gold Van Cleef & Arpels Magic Alhambra Bracelet peeking out from her right sleeve.
Camilla wore the necklace from the modern emerald suite, as well as the earrings, which you can see more clearly in this photo. She also pinned the gem-studded badge of The Rifles to her gown. I believe she was first seen wearing this particular badge in the autumn of 2020, after she took over the appointment from her father-in-law.
The Countess of Wessex wore a vibrant gown in a shade of aqua blue for the dinner. Sophie is the Royal Colonel of the 5th Battalion The Rifles, an appointment she has held since 2006.
For the dinner, Sophie wore a pair of modern earrings set with multi-colored gemstones. The earrings, which she’s had in her jewelry box for several years, also have a matching necklace. She notably wore the suite with the Wessex Aquamarine Necklace Tiara back in 2017, when she attended the festivities celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the Sultan of Brunei.
Sophie also wore two jewels pinned to her dress. The bottom pin is, appropriately, the badge of The Rifles. Above it, she placed her small diamond rose brooch. It appears to be the same rose brooch she wore for her 20th wedding anniversary portraits, taken in 2019.
There was one more British royal lady present at the dinner as well. The Duchess of Gloucester is the Royal Colonel of the 7th (V) Battalion of The Rifles. She also wore the badge of The Rifles, plus pearl drop earrings with sapphire and diamond studs, a single-stranded pearl necklace, a gold bracelet, and classic diamond dress clips.
