On Saturday, Queen Letizia dazzled in diamonds for a night at the opera in Madrid. Let’s take a closer look at her jewels for the occasion today.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain attended the premiere of Handel’s Partenope at the Royal Theater in Madrid. The opera was composed in 1730, and its very first performance in London took place during the reign of King Felipe’s ancestor, King George II of Great Britain.
For the evening, Queen Letizia was elegant in a monochromatic look: black trousers and a sparkling black top, with black accessories. You’ll spot her gold Karen Hallam ring in its usual spot on her left hand.
She also made a statement with a gorgeous pair of classic diamond earrings. These are girandoles, a shape designed to mimic a candelabra design popular during the 18th century.
Letizia has had these diamond girandole earrings, which were made by Yanes, in her collection for years.
Here’s another view of her earrings from Saturday’s appearance. I’ll also direct you here, to another appearance in the same jewels from about five years ago. There’s a good close-up of the details of the earrings in that article.
