The name of the royal family that reigns in the Netherlands is the House of Orange. Although that name originally referred to a geographical region, not a fruit or color, lots of Dutch royal women love to play on the name by wearing jewels set with orange stones, like topazes and citrines.
Today, we’ve got one of these sparkling appearances from the then-Princess Maxima in the summer of 2011. That July, she and Prince Willem-Alexander traveled to Monaco to attend the wedding of Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene, and Maxima embraced orange in her clothing and her jewels.
With her sunny dress, Maxima wore jewels set with diamonds and golden gemstones. It’s generally said that the orange gemstones here are citrines, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if some of the pieces are set with orange topazes. For the wedding, Maxima wore long diamond earrings with pendant drops set with some of the orange gems.
She also wore a pair of sparkling bracelets. On her left wrist, she added a bracelet with alternating orange gemstones and diamonds.
And on her right wrist, she wore her gorgeous statement bracelet set with various shades of citrine or topaz gems.
