We’re taking a quick break from this week’s Sparkling Spotlight posts for a very good reason: the Queen wore a brooch at Windsor yesterday! Here’s all the details on her latest jewelry appearance.
The Queen has continued to undertake only “light duties” on the advice of her doctors, but on Tuesday, she was well enough for a face-to-face meeting with the Governor of the Bank of England.
The Queen received Andrew Bailey in the Oak Room at Windsor Castle, surrounded by lots of royal family photographs.
The Queen wore a green gown with a subtle floral print with diamond and pearl jewels. She’s been wearing a variation on her usual diamond and pearl earrings and three-stranded pearl necklace lately, swapping them out for simpler and smaller pearl stud earrings and a two-stranded pearl necklace.
On her dress, she pinned the Pearl Triangle Brooch. Jewel historian Leslie Field has described the brooch as “an unusual long narrow diamond triangle with two pearls and a canary yellow diamond set in the middle.” It’s one of the Queen’s most-worn brooches, donned for a variety of events and worn with a rainbow of colors.
