We’re wrapping up our bejeweled tribute to royal ladies with February birthdays today with a look at a gorgeous gala outing from Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg—who celebrates her birthday today!
Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie of Luxembourg arrived in Oslo in May 2017 for the joint 80th birthday celebrations of King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway. The Norwegian and Luxembourgish royals are close cousins. King Harald’s mother, Crown Princess Märtha of Norway, was a sister of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume’s great-grandmother, Queen Astrid of Belgium.
For the second evening of the celebrations, a black-tie dinner, Stéphanie wore a teal evening gown with a light brown fur wrap. Her husband gallantly carried an umbrella to try to shield her from the rain.
Stéphanie picked up the color of her gown with her choice of jewels: pieces from the grand ducal collection’s aquamarine suite. The set, which has a midcentury design, was made for Guillaume’s grandmother, Grand Duchess Joséphine Charlotte. The set features a bandeau-style tiara (not worn on this occasion), plus a necklace, earrings, and bracelet.
Stéphanie wore the necklace, earrings, and bracelet for this outing. Here, you get a good look at the interesting diamond detail on the earrings.
And here, you get a good look at the bracelet, which matches the pattern of the tiara from the set.
