Our tribute to the royal ladies celebrating birthdays this month continues with a look at an elegant emerald appearance from Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg.
In March 2018, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg traveled to France for a state visit. They were the guests of honor at a gala dinner at the Elysée Palace in Paris, hosted by President and Mrs. Macron.
State dinners are quite casual in France these days, with men in business attire and women in evening gowns without tiaras or decorations. For this dinner, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore a flowing dark green dress with metallic accessories.
She also added several pieces of diamond and emerald jewelry from the grand ducal vaults, including a pair of elaborate diamond and emerald earrings with girandole-style design elements.
She also wore the diamond and emerald choker necklace that belonged to Queen Astrid of Belgium, Grand Duke Henri’s Swedish-born grandmother. The necklace can also be worn as a bracelet or as a bandeau-style tiara.
She finished off the look with a very interesting piece of diamond and emerald jewelry: an evening watch that appears to have an emerald face.
