On Monday, the King and Queen of Spain hosted diplomatic guests from North America at the Royal Palace in Madrid. For the occasion, Queen Letizia wore one of her favorite pairs of earrings.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain welcomed Carlos Alvarado Quesada, President of the Republic of Costa Rica, and his wife, First Lady Claudia Dobles Camargo, to the Royal Palace for an official visit.
This wasn’t a full state visit, so there were no gala gowns or jewels, but there was an official luncheon held in the presidential couple’s honor.
An official luncheon, less formal than an official dinner, still requires more elevated daytime attire.
For the occasion, Queen Letizia wore a red day dress with a drop waist and a pleated skirt, plus matching red shoes.
She continued the red theme to her accessories, wearing one of her favorite pairs of ruby earrings.
The earrings feature smooth cabochon ruby drops in a deep shade of red, bordered by a glittering row of diamonds.
She finished off the look with another favorite jewel: her Karen Hallam ring, which is said to have been a gift from either Felipe or their daughters.
