We saw a particularly artistic outing from the Queen of the Belgians at the end of last week—with a pair of fun modern earrings perfect for the occasion.
Queen Mathilde headed to Liege on Friday to view “Le monde et l’intime,” an exhibition of work by the artist Charles Szymkowicz.
Szymkowicz, pictured here with Queen Mathilde, is a noted Belgian expressionist painter. The exhibition in Liege features 350 pieces of his artwork.
For the occasion, Queen Mathilde sensibly wore neutrals—no need to try to compete with such colorful art! She wore tan trousers with a matching jacket, plus a blouse with a paisley print.
She accessorized with a pair of earrings that are almost a work of abstract art themselves. The gold earrings, which have baroque pearl pendants, are designed to represent flowers.
Here’s another view of the earrings. I like the way these render the flowers in an abstract, almost sketch-like form. Perfect for a visit to an art exhibition.
Mathilde also wore her gold wedding band and her usual watch/bracelet combo. I wasn’t able to spot a ring on her left hand in the photos available to me from the visit. Of late, she’s been wearing a new ring with a gorgeous, bright blue gemstone. You can spot a good view of it here in one of our recent articles on her jewels.
