On Saturday, the Spanish royals attended an important national military commemoration, and Queen Letizia wore a sparkling pair of earrings for the occasion.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia traveled to the city of Huesca in Aragon to celebrate Armed Forces Day, a holiday honoring those who have served in Spain’s military. The commemorations are held in a different Spanish city each year, on the Saturday closest to the 30th of May.
For this year’s Armed Forces Day celebrations, Queen Letizia wore a summery blue dress festooned with dark polka dots. She carried a black clutch bag and wore black heels.
For a little extra sparkle, she added a pair of earrings set with diamonds and a pale blue gemstone, perhaps an aquamarine. The earrings have been in Letizia’s collection since the early years of her marriage to Felipe.
Here, a young Princess Letizia wears the earrings, which have a starry geometric design, for a visit to San Roque in May 2006.
Here’s a closer view of the earrings from this weekend’s appearance, showing the central blue gemstone more clearly.
