This week, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway have been visiting in Stockholm with their Swedish royal counterparts. Here’s a look at some of the jewelry worn during the first two days of the trip.
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit arrived in Sweden on Monday, and they were welcomed to the Royal Palace by their Swedish royal cousins. From left to right here, we’ve got Princess Sofia, Prince Carl Philip, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Crown Prince Haakon, Queen Silvia, and King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.
The visit, like virtually all diplomatic trips, was designed to reinforce ties between the nations and highlight their shared interests. The first day of the program included a stop at Kulturhuset in Stockholm.
The two crown princely couples also headed to the Karolinska Institute, where Crown Princess Victoria delivered a speech.
For these first events of the visit, Crown Princess Victoria wore baroque pearl earrings with her patterned dress.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit usually keeps her jewelry very minimal, so I was delighted to see this abstract gold pin, with its pink gemstone center, on the lapel of her coat.
I’m not sure whether this is a piece of jewelry or an embellishment on the coat itself, but either way, it’s a nice change of pace. Here, you also get a view of her earrings, including a sunburst pair.
On Monday evening, the couples arrived in casual evening wear for a reception at Norra Latin in Stockholm.
Both royal ladies wore blue. Crown Princess Victoria accessorized her blue and white patterned dress with silver-toned jewelry, including slender hoop earrings and a silver cuff bracelet. You’ll also spot a tiny round pin on her dress. It’s a miniature decoration from the Order of St. Olav, Norway’s highest order of chivalry. (You’ll spot the little pins, from different orders, on others in this post as well.)
We didn’t get to see much of Mette-Marit’s jewelry with her royal blue dress. Her earrings are hidden away in her hair. But she did wear a delicate bracelet, and she carried a metallic gold clutch.
On Tuesday morning, the royal foursome left Haga Palace for another series of engagements. Here, they’re pictured during a tour of the Fryshuset Foundation, a global non-profit organization working to improve the lives of young people.
They also participated in a roundtable discussion about start-up ecosystems at Norrsken House.
Crown Princess Victoria wore a vibrant pink suit for Tuesday morning’s program, accessorizing with a matching pair of pink hoop earrings.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore a sentimental piece of jewelry on Tuesday: a sautoir-length necklace with a heart pendant. You’ll spot the letter H (for Haakon) engraved in the heart and set with diamonds.
