While the Brits were cheering at Royal Ascot and lots of European royals were descending on Oslo, the Grimaldis were busy with one of the principality’s annual entertainment events: the 61st Monte Carlo Television Festival. Princess Charlene, who continues to recover from a difficult year, was on hand to sparkle in major diamonds at the opening ceremony.
The Prince and Princess of Monaco appeared at the opening ceremony of the television festival on Friday.
Princess Charlene made one of her highest-profile appearances in many months at the ceremony, appearing on stage in a glamorous green Lanvin gown with gold accessories. Historically, Lanvin has had important links to the princely family. The founder of the fashion house, Jeanne Lanvin, was the mother of Marie-Blanche de Polignac, a cousin by marriage of Prince Rainier III. Partly because of that connection, Lanvin made one of the evening gowns that Grace Kelly wore during their wedding celebrations in Monaco in 1956.
Princess Charlene added lots of sparkle to her Lanvin dress with major diamond pieces, including a pair of stunning diamond fringe earrings.
The earrings appear to be set in yellow gold.
She added even more glamour with a pair of bracelets, one on each wrist. The bracelet on her left wrist appears to match the design of her earrings.
We were treated to a close-up photograph of the second bracelet, which is a major statement piece. Rows of white diamonds curve around the jewel, punctuated by two rows of honey-colored gemstones.
Here’s one more look at Charlene’s gorgeous modern earrings from the event. And, based on some of our recent posts on Grimaldi jewels, here’s a gentle reminder that this is solely a place to discuss jewelry—not to discuss the bodies of the people pictured, or to speculate about health, emotions, or personal relationships. There’s already too much of that sort of content elsewhere on the internet. Thanks, all!
