This week, the Belgian royal family gathered to celebrate the country’s National Day, and we’ve got a closer look at jewels worn to some of the traditional festivities. Spoiler alert: this year’s theme was gold, gold, and more gold!
The festivities kicked off on Wednesday with a concert at Bozar, the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels.
Queen Mathilde wore a colorful gown with a fun one-shoulder neckline, accessorized with gold floral statement earrings and a matching bracelet.
Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz also joined King Philippe and Queen Mathilde for Wednesday’s concert.
On Thursday, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde were joined by their children, Princess Elisabeth, Prince Gabriel, Prince Emmanuel, and Princess Eleonore, for a Te Deum service at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula.
Queen Mathilde wore a sunny yellow ensemble for the mass, accessorized with gold leaf earrings and a matching brooch.
Princess Elisabeth (pictured here with Prince Emmanuel) wore bright red for the day, with gold and red earrings to coordinate.
Here’s a better look at the earrings, which feature red gemstones set in a modern gold design.
Princess Eleonore (pictured here with Prince Gabriel) borrowed a small bee brooch from her mother for the day. It’s hidden a bit behind her hair in this photograph.
Later in the day, the family attended a military parade, followed by a street party and an outdoor concert. Here’s a look at the King, the Queen, and their children on the reviewing stand during the parade.
The King’s siblings and their spouses were also present for the parade. Princess Astrid, as usual, was dressed in uniform. (That’s Prince Lorenz’s shoulder beside her!)
Princess Claire, wife of Prince Laurent, wore petite pearl stud earrings and a silver necklace for the parade.
Princess Delphine, who attended with her partner, Jim O’Hare, chose not to wear any significant jewelry, letting her red and white ensemble do the talking.

Queen Mathilde changed into a blue and white dress, with coordinating blue earrings, for a stop in the Grand Sablon neighborhood of Brussels that afternoon.
