There was much rejoicing at the Royal Hashemite Court this week, as Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan officially became engaged and gave Jordan a first glimpse of their future Queen Consort.
King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan joined their elder son, 28-year-old Crown Prince Hussein, as he traveled to Riyadh for his engagement to Rajwa Khaled bin Musaed bin Saif bin Abdulaziz Al Saif, also 28.
The engagement ceremony took place on Wednesday at the home of Rajwa’s father in the Saudi capital city. Crown Prince Hussein placed a diamond ring on the right hand of his bride-to-be during the ceremony.
Crown Prince Hussein presented Rajwa with an impressive ring set with a large pear-shaped diamond, flanked by smaller supporting stones. The engagement ring is very similar in style to the one worn by another royal consort, Princess Charlene of Monaco.
The newly-engaged couple posed with both families during the ceremony. Here, they’re pictured with Rajwa’s father, Khaled bin Musaed Al Saif, who is reportedly a wealthy Saudi businessman. Rajwa is reportedly the youngest of four children, and she studied architecture at Syracuse University in New York.
And here, Hussein and Rajwa pose with his parents, Queen Rania and King Abdullah. Several more members of the extended Jordanian royal family were also present for the ceremony, including Prince El Hassan bin Talal (King Abdullah’s uncle), Prince Hashem (King Abdullah and Queen Rania’s younger son), Prince Ali bin Hussein and Prince Hashim bin Hussein (two of King Abdullah’s younger brothers), and Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad and Prince Rashid bin El Hassan (two of King Abdullah’s cousins).
Queen Rania has shared several sentimental messages on her Instagram account after the ceremony. “I didn’t think it was possible to hold so much joy in my heart! Congratulations to my eldest Prince Hussein and his beautiful bride-to-be, Rajwa,” she wrote on Wednesday. She shared this portrait with her future daughter-in-law on Thursday, writing, “Excited to welcome my third daughter, Al Hussein’s bride-to-be, Rajwa, to the family! We’re so happy for you both.” She also posted a video featuring footage of the engagement ceremony.
The Royal Hashemite Court also sent a message of support to the young couple, wishing them “a life full of happiness, success and contentment.”
Additional official engagement portraits of Hussein and Rajwa have also been released. In this image, Rajwa wears a pair of earrings with gemstone drops and a ribbon design motif.
Here, she wears small hoop earrings and a necklace that appears to be set with diamonds (and perhaps a blue gemstone, maybe a sapphire?).
And in this shot, which shows off the engagement ring beautifully, Rajwa wears modern earrings set with white and yellow diamonds, loaned to her by Queen Rania.
King Abdullah and Queen Rania’s family has been full of happy news this summer. In July, their elder daughter, Princess Iman, announced her engagement to Jameel Alexander Thermiotis. Jameel, who originally hails from Venezuela, is the founder of Outbound Ventures, a tech investment firm based in New York. Queen Rania has also shared good wishes for her daughter and future son-in-law on Instagram, writing, “Congratulations my dearest Iman; your smile has always been a gift of love that I’ve cherished since the day you were born. I wish you and Jameel a life filled with love and laughter!”
