The British royals have been in sport mode recently, watching lots of the action at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. Here’s a look at some of the jewelry pieces we’ve seen at the competitions over the past week.
The opening ceremony for the 2022 Commonwealth Games took place on Thursday, with the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall representing the Queen alongside dignitaries like Louise Martin, President of the Commonwealth Games Federation.
Camilla kept her jewels minimal for the ceremony. I believe she wore her favorite diamond floral and pearl drop earrings with her dark trouser suit and neutral wrap.
She also wore bracelets on both wrists, including her distinctive blue Van Cleef & Arpels Magic Alhambra bracelet.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex were also present for the opening ceremony in Birmingham.
Sophie wore a dark teal dress for the ceremony, accessorizing with gold earrings with a pale gemstone drop and a gold hair ornament.
On Friday, the Wessexes were in Birmingham for the gymnastics competition and in Coventry for the Rugby Sevens.
With her blue floral dress, Sophie wore gold hoop earrings and a small but significant necklace.
She wore three very important diamond pendants on a thin chain. They’re in the shape of the letters E, L, and J, for her husband and children (Edward, Louise, and James).
She also wore her usual bracelets on her right wrist: a delicate gold bracelet with a pale gemstone accent, plus a white beaded bracelet.
The Wessexes were joined at the rugby competition by the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence.
Anne, ever the sportswoman, was elegant in a neutral ensemble with gold and diamond jewels.
She wore gold earrings, a gold and diamond necklace, and a modern gold floral brooch with gemstone accents. (And, of course, she wore her favorite Team GB sunglasses, too!)
The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester joined the spectators at the Lee Valley Velopark Velodrome in London on Saturday to watch the track cycling event.
Birgitte always wears interesting jewelry pieces, and this appearance was no exception. Highlights included floral earrings with a leafy jacket detail and her modern Vivianna cuff watch from Georg Jensen.
She also wore several gold necklaces. One in particular caught my eye: it features a pendant charm with a red enamel heart and a gold clover detail.
On Monday, the entire Wessex family headed to Birmingham to watch the badminton competition.
Lady Louise and Viscount Severn joined their parents for the outing. Both Sophie and Louise wore bright summery dresses for the occasion. (Louise borrowed hers from Sophie’s closet.)
Sophie wore a lovely pair of silver leaf earrings for the competition.
An intense sporting moment offered us a good glimpse of Sophie’s bracelets (the same ones worn earlier in the week) and her diamond engagement ring and gold wedding band.
Lady Louise accessorized with a pair of bezel-set earrings with blue gemstones. She also wore a necklace with an intricate silver heart locket pendant.
After a quick outfit change, the Wessexes headed to the Sandwell Aquatics Centre in Birmingham to watch the swimming competition.
Sophie wore the same silver leaf earrings. We also get a good glimpse of her necklace here, which features a blue gemstone in a silver bezel setting.
Here’s another view of Sophie’s necklace and bracelets from the swimming event.
And we also got a little jewelry from the Earl here as well! Edward is wearing a pin with the Commonwealth Sport logo on his jacket. And on the little finger of his left hand, you’ll spot a signet ring that features his royal cypher.
On Tuesday, Princess Charlotte joined her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to watch the swimming competition at the Sandwell Aquatics Centre.
Both Kate and Charlotte looked cool and sporty in their outfits. Kate wore a slim white trouser suit, while Charlotte chose a nautical navy and white striped dress.
Kate accessorized with some favorite pieces from her jewelry box: her Empress Mini earrings and necklace from Mappin & Webb.
The Cambridges joined the Wessexes at the aquatic centre to watch Tuesday’s swimming action.
Edward, Louise, Sophie, and James were all pictured together ahead of the event. It was a casual day for the family, with Sophie wearing a printed blouse and white trousers and Louise opting for a cream-colored blouse and a summery printed skirt.
Sophie added gold hoop earrings to her outfit, as well as a necklace with a hammered gold disc pendant.
And Louise again wore her intricate silver locket necklace, paired with a necklace with a blue gemstone pendant and earrings with bezel-set gems. She also wore a ring on her right hand and two bracelets on her left wrist.
